BLOOD COLLECTION TUBES
K2 & K3 EDTA
Marcela EDTA tubes are used in hematology while EDTA salts are widely used as anticoagulant in blood collection tubes to cover the calcium ions of the blood, therefore preventing blood coagulation.
CLOT ACTIVATOR
Marcela serum tubes are used to collect serum sample for chemistry, serology, and immunology. The tubes are coated with micronized silica particles which activate clotting when tubes are gently inverted.
SODIUM FLUORIDE
Marcela EDTA/Sodium Fluoride & Sodium Fluoride/Potassium Oxa- late tubes are used in clinical biochemistry and are suitable for the analy- sis of glucose concentration within 48 hours. Sodium Fluoride is used as a glycolysis inhibitor, whereas the additive is used to prevent the enzymatic action in the glycolytic pathway.
GEL CLOT ACTIVATOR
Marcela gel and clot activator is used for routine blood donor screening as well as for diagnosing infectious diseases. The gel barrier at the bottom of the tube is used to separate the serum and the blood clot as the gel barrier is moving upward to the serum clot during centrifugation.
LITHIUM HEPARIN
Marcela lithium heparin tubes are used in chemistry and special chemis- try testing. Heparin is the recommended anticoagulant for many deter- minations using whole blood or plasma specimens. Tubes are sprayed with dried sodium heparin additives.
SODIUM HEPARIN
Marcela tubes containing sodium heparin are used for the collection of heparinised plasma or whole blood for special tests like endocrine, meta- bolic disorders and generally routine tests. The additive is anticoagulant which prevents clotting or activation of thrombin. Should not be used for coagulation or hematology testing.
SODIUM CITRATE
Marcela Citrate tubes (3.2% and 3.8%) are used for coagulation studies and contain buffered sodiumvcitrate solution. The citrate tubes can also be used to obtain an accurate platelet count through a special test procedure.
